My Students

My students are 3 to 5 years old. All of my students have qualified for and are receiving special education services. Their special education needs include speech/language services, pre-academics, behavior intervention, and social skills instruction. We do all of this through play.

Just like all preschoolers, my students learn by playing, getting messy, being noisy and having fun.

The skills we focus on in preschool are the foundation for students' success in the future. It's amazing to realize that the playing we do in preschool sets the stage for so much more in my students' lives.

My Project

I am asking for materials for picture exchange communication. Specifically the binders, pages and carry straps from Pyramid Educational Consultants. These materials are durable and long lasting, they will benefit students for many years. Many of my students need support to communicate. Picture exchange is an established, research based method for developing functional communication skills.

Once students have the ability to communicate the world is open to them.

Not only does this open their world but we often see a decrease in challenging behaviors when students can effectively communicate their wants and needs. Functional communication is a foundational skill, something that will truly impact the rest of a student's life.
