Help Us Learn Financial Literacy With a Classroom Economy!
Help me give my students a variety of prizes such as fruit snacks, chips, cookies and crackers that they can purchase with accumulated points in our classroom store.
I teach fourth grade at a Title I school in Central Florida. I teach reading, language arts, and social studies to 45 students. I have students who come from a variety of social, behavioral and emotional backgrounds.
I'm extremely proud of all of my students and will do whatever it takes to ensure that each of them has everything they need to be successful.
This project will allow my students to learn valuable life skills needed to budget money appropriately as well as the chance to purchase needed snacks from the Success Wall with accumulated points.
My Project
This project will help provide important lifelong lessons for 45 fourth grade students. With this project, we will be able to set up a classroom economy system in which students accumulate points by completing classroom job duties, outstanding attendance (which is a huge issue at our school), following SOPs, demonstrating growth on diagnostic assessments and other demonstrated behaviors worth rewarding.
This project will allow my fourth graders the opportunity to learn about financial literacy through a classroom economy, as well as increase daily attendance, classwork completion and encourage appropriate behaviors.
Students will be able to choose from the variety of prizes listed within this grant. Instead of focusing on the negative behaviors (clip down, change your card systems) I am choosing to highlight the positive behaviors in which students are praised and awarded for following the directions and being model students.
