This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Bullying still exists in school. Our class is a "Bully Free Zone". My goal is to educate young learners on how to recognize bullying and how to help stop it from happening through interactive stories, dramatization, and class presentations.
I teach 21 students who are eager and excited to learn.
My students attend a large public school and come from low income households and over half of them are English Language Learners and are attending school for the first time.
Many of my students have been exposed to bullying even before they enter my classroom. Due to the lack of funds at our public schools Character Education has taken a back seat when it comes to funding. Books about Bullying and technology, such as updated laptop computers are scarce in our schools.
My Project
My students love listening to stories. The new story about Wigglebottom will help my students learn that being a bully is not acceptable. The laptop will be used to create power point presentations and enhance the lesson. I can also use the laptop to search for other lessons on line that can be shared with the class.
I am always looking for ways to enhance lessons on character.
Bullying is not taken lightly, even in Kindergarten. It is important that children learn early about being a good citizen and building a good character. By supporting my project, you will help build confidence in many children's lives.
