My Students
I am a high school culinary arts teacher in the Bronx. I run an amazing program on a very limited budget. I try to expose my kids to all different genres of food. One of their MOST favorite units is our unit on carnival foods. They LOVE it!!
My kids love to cook.
Many of them use my class as a stepping stone towards a career in the culinary field. I can't tell you how many kids I run into that tell me they are working as line cooks or prep cooks, while they are in college. It's extremely rewarding, so I try to give them the best experience of the industry.
My Project
Our carnival unit of foods is something EVERYONE looks forward to. Many of the foods we make are difficult to do without the proper machines and supplies. These various materials will really allow us to display all of our new learning's for this unit. This project is going to launch this end of the year unit off to an amazing start- and we will also be able to display our food to the entire school. The cotton candy maker and bread machine will really give us the chance to SHINE! Making bread is a very difficult skill, so using a machine is the first step to understanding how the process works.
