My Students
My 5th grade students are from a rural county in South Carolina. 85% of my students are on a free or reduced priced lunch. My school only houses 5th and 6th graders. We have about 700 students total. Some of my students have never traveled beyond the county lines.
Many of my students don't have the opportunity to work with technology outside of the classroom.
They enjoy every chance they get to work with technology. Technology is becoming such an important part of our society and it is important for the student's to learn how to use different types of technology .
My Project
Using the tablets in classrooms during science stations, I will be able to reach all the different learning styles in the room. A 5 minute video they can watch on the Kindle can be much more effective than listening to a lecture. The Kindles will ensure that all students are engaged in their own learning. Students are very technology driven and the use of the Kindles will allow them to become immersed in the content.
Science Centers will become a weekly routine in the classroom!
This will allow students to move around the room and not have to sit still for the whole class period. Students will be able to watch videos, scan QR codes and do research about the content. Science Centers will also help students become independent workers. As they finish each center, they can move to the next. They will be responsible for completing each center.
