This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school library is a place where students come to explore, learn, and fall in love with reading. As the librarian, I work hard to make sure every student can easily find books that interest and inspire them. One of the ways we do this is by organizing books into clearly labeled plastic bins that are easy for young readers to browse.

Unfortunately, we don’t have enough bins for all of our book categories, and many books are currently stacked in piles or squeezed onto shelves, making it hard for students—especially our early and reluctant readers—to find what they’re looking for.

This leads to frustration and missed opportunities to discover new favorites.

With additional book bins, I will be able to sort our growing collection by genre, reading level, and topic in a way that is visually clear and inviting. This will help our students become more independent in selecting books, take better care of our collection, and most importantly, enjoy their time in the library even more.
