This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a 3rd grade ICT teacher in a Title I school. That means that most of my students come from low-income homes. My class consists of various learners who are all at different levels. Some of my students have learning disabilities, some come to school speaking languages other than English at home and some are above grade level and need constant enrichment and challenging tasks to drive their thirst for learning. My students are smart, driven, and ambitious children who love to learn.

Some of my students are reading chapter books and some are reading picture books.

Whatever reading level they are on, it's my job to instill a love for reading in them.

My Project

It is very difficult in a busy classroom to find a place for all of our books...big and small; especially when we need so many books at different reading levels to accommodate the various learners in my class.

Flimsy book bins break and shelf space is limited.

By giving our books a place with a label on the bin, we will always know where that favorite book is! These book bins will help us stay organized and will allow my students to be independent readers. This shelving unit will allow my students to independently borrow the books that they love to read. It will also allow them to easily put the book back in its correct bin. When our library is neat and organized it makes it easier for all readers to choose books and take care of them.
