My Students
Our school is a kindergarten through 8th-grade school in the Fairmount area of Philadelphia. Most of my students are bused to school. They are from all areas of Philadelphia. There are 14 students with all intellectual disabilities in this Life Skills support classroom. The students work on academics, as well as skills they will need for independent living.
The students enjoy coming to school each day.
They really love their peers and the adults who work in the classroom! We have birthday parties for each student and we celebrate every holiday! We are all one big family!
My Project
The special education students in this Life Skills Support classroom are learning Domestic Maintenance Skills that will help them become independent adults. They are learning how to keep their classroom clean by wiping desks and tables with Lysol wipes, spraying the air with Lysol Spray and Febreze Air Spray. The students need these items to help keep their classroom clean. These items will be valuable tools, in order to help students to learn valuable Domestic Maintenance Skills.
We have snack time in the each day classroom, but often students do not bring a healthy snack or a snack at all.
The students would benefit from being provided with healthy snacks such as Fruit Snacks, Nutri-Grain Bars, Goldfish, and Crackers.
