My Students

"Technology won't replace teachers, but teachers who use technology will probably replace teachers who do not." Anonymous More and more technology is making its way into classrooms. All students should have the same opportunities to use the newest technology to help improve their reading.

My students are in Kindergarten through Second Grade.

I work in an urban Title I school where technology is just starting to make its way in the classrooms for students to use instead of just the teachers. My students know how to use a cellular phone to play games, but don't give much thought to using the apps to strengthen their reading skills.

My Project

By using the requested tablets, I can select Reading apps that correlate with our Reading curriculum. I can use the tablets in a center or with me as I teach small groups. It will surely get their attention and keep it. There are thousands of resources on the Internet that can be used to teach reading skills in a fun way. Our school this year is finally being prepared for WiFi and I would love for my students to take advantage of it.

The donations to this project will improve my classroom by improving the technology that is used.

As of now I only have one desktop computer that does not have the capability to offer text in various digital reading programs. All in all, these tablets will change the way I teach and how my students learn for the better.
