it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Technology is a vital part in 21st century education. By supplying my students with this iPad, they will experience the learning power of this cutting edge technology. With the growing education application store, the iPad is a tool with an endless supply of knowledge that my students will obtain.
I am the Art specialist in a K-5 Arts school.
We are located in one of the poorest rural areas of the state. Our families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. I see about 975 students every week, from Kindergarten though grade five. All of the students receive free or reduced lunch. The student population is 95% Hispanic, 3% African American, 1% Caucasian, and 1% Asian. About 70% of the students in my room are learning English as a second language.
My Project
I am asking for an Apple iPad. In my classroom, I want to provide my students with not only the bare necessities, but with the luxuries that they do not have at home. I want to inspire them through the use of technology and I want them to have a variety of mediums with which to learn with. iPads will allow me students to read virtual books, to search the Internet from their desks when they do not understand a word or idea, and will simply provide them with a new and amazing form of technology.
With the Education store at Apple, my students can view current shows in museums from around the world and listen to curators talk about each work of art. Bring the museum into our classroom without ever having to leave it.
Most of my students' families do not have a computer at home, Internet access or even a place to call home so they result to school as their home.
This tool will be able to help educate my students about art, they are also becoming familiar with cutting edge technology. Using the iPad in my classroom will not only help my students succeed in my class, but prepare them for success in future jobs.
