This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are wonderful kids that are eager to be challenged and inspired. They are a very diverse population in a low income area. We have a supportive school community due to the fact we are a charter school. However, resources are limited as they are at most public schools. To keep these busy minds challenged and motivated, my students will need classroom materials to help them succeed in 2nd grade. I want to grow lifelong learners, readers and leaders.
My Project
We are asking for your support to purchase hygiene and necessities to make and deliver packages to homeless people around St. Petersburg, so they can stay warm, clean and hopefully healthy! We are asking for soaps, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, gloves, and hats.
We believe that supporting our local homeless and disadvantaged families will give them strength to have a better day and a better life!
We need fleece blankets to distribute out to homeless and the less fortunate! We want everyone to have something to call their own and not worry about hygiene and their health.
We will be putting together packages and making cards that contain inspirational messages to instill belief in the less fortunate that they are valuable and they deserve basic necessities!
We will be partnering up with a local charitable well known organization, St. Vincent De Paul, to do a class-wide community service project. Community service can make a HUGE difference not only in our community, but with our students. It is an important skill to give back to others in such a way that can impact many lives.
