My Project
Fundraising allows children to feel a sense of pride in ownership of themselves. It empowers children by giving them the ability to control their own destinies, in a sense. They also learn how to set goals and work towards them. Fundraising can also help students develop communication and interpersonal skills. Through their efforts, students can see the results of their hard work and the feeling of fulfillment in what they have accomplished. My students will benefit from the experience and pride of raising funds for this unforgettable experience.
This activity will make my students feel as if they are more in control of their lives.
Making personalized items, such as t-shirts, as a fundraiser gives my students the opportunity to raise money for a field trip and ownership of their accomplishments. They will donate the proceeds towards the school community. It will enable students to work with money and "customers." Learning to work with others and stepping out of the box will not only be a lesson in finance but also in social and emotional.
