Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a public elementary school in northern California. The majority of my students are English language learners that come from low-income families. Despite the fact that many of my students face challenges, both inside and outside of the classroom, they are enthusiastic about learning.
My students enter the classroom with big hearts and open minds, always ready to learn.
I strive to create an environment where my students feel comfortable enough to engage in the learning process. I want to provide my students with high interest materials to help them have the courage to participate and connect with the learning process.
My Project
Our school has been fortunate enough to receive 1:1 Chromebooks for each classroom. Headphones can be expensive for families to purchase, so most of the students are unable to provide a pair of headphones that are able to stay at school. This project will help ensure every third and fourth grade student has a pair of headphones, with a case, to use throughout the year.
Proving headphones for all of our students will enable them to focus on learning in an equitable environment.
The students use their Chormebooks for many different learning opportunities, such as literacy and math curriculum extensions as well as an exciting coding program. By providing headphones for all the third and fourth grade students we are giving them an opportunity to maximize learning through the use of Chromebooks.
