My Students
My students are the most inspiring children you will ever meet. They come from some of the roughest backgrounds (being at a Title I school) and yet they come in each day with smiles on their faces and ready to learn. They are so eager to learn new things and collaborate with their peers.
Some of my students are on their own when it comes to learning at home because their parents do not speak English well, or not at all.
If they do speak English, most of their parents work in jobs that do not allow them to spend the time helping their children with school work. This makes their time in the classroom crucial, especially learning core subjects like reading and math. It stresses for me the importance of teaching them that they can dream and go far in life.
My Project
Our school has access to 1-1 Chromebooks which is a blessing, but can you imagine trying to do your work with 19 other computers at full volume working too? Even worse if it's benchmark assessment time and you are trying to concentrate on high stakes questions while on a time limit.
The headphones will help to create a calming environment where the students can focus on their task.
We have several programs our district uses for instructional technology all of which require sound. It will also help the small group instruction table not get distracted by the sounds coming from the computers.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
