My Project
My students come to school full of curiosity, energy, and a desire to learn. In our classroom, reading is at the heart of everything we do. I want to build a classroom library that meets their diverse interests, challenges their thinking, and allows them to see themselves — and others — in the stories they read.
Right now, our classroom library is well-loved but also well-worn.
Many of our books have been read so often that pages are falling out or covers are taped together. More importantly, many of the books are outdated and don’t reflect the diverse voices, experiences, and topics that excite my students today.
With your help, I hope to add new, high-interest books to our library — books that celebrate different cultures, promote empathy, and get kids truly excited to read. I want books that feature diverse characters, graphic novels that engage reluctant readers, and series that kids can't wait to get their hands on.
Reading should be joyful — not a chore. A fresh selection of books will give my students choice, ownership, and pride in their reading lives.
These books will not only help my students build literacy skills, but they will also foster a lifelong love of reading. When students see themselves in books — and also learn about the lives of others — they grow as readers and as people.
