Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

These students are incredible! Many of them come from low-income homes and many do not have a lot of home support, but they show up and do their best every day. These kids experience and see things no child should have to endure but they push forward and do the best they can. I want to provide them with the best possible learning experience I can. With the added stress of COVID-19 changing everything they have known including a highly interactive environment, I want to provide them with as much opportunity to be engaged in learning through new ways that allow them to learn and be safe at the same time. Just like every other child, these students deserve the best education available, and I will do everything in my power to provide it to them.

My Project

These science and math materials will allow my students to have the opportunity to learn in a much more hands-on and engaging manner. Many times the students want the opportunity to do something different than just listening to the teacher explain how something works or how a problem is done. These materials will make it possible for my students to actually see how things work and experiment to see how making changes will change the outcome. This helps the students to become active learners instead of passive learners. This will also allow them to better retain the knowledge that they gain during the lesson.
