Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students thrive when they are given hands-on opportunities to think, create, and explore. Donations of LEGO sets, loose LEGOs, and chess sets will provide engaging, interactive learning tools that support deeper thinking beyond traditional worksheets or screens. These materials allow students to actively apply concepts, collaborate with peers, and learn through meaningful play—an approach proven to increase engagement and retention across grade levels.

LEGO building encourages students to develop essential engineering and problem-solving skills by planning designs, testing ideas, identifying mistakes, and revising their work.

As students construct structures or complete challenges, they practice perseverance, spatial reasoning, and logical thinking while learning that failure is part of the learning process. Chess further enhances these skills by strengthening strategic thinking, pattern recognition, and decision-making, helping students learn to think several steps ahead and consider multiple solutions before acting.

These resources will create an inclusive learning environment where all students—regardless of academic level—can grow in confidence and ability. LEGO sets and chess boards foster collaboration, communication, and healthy competition while building critical life skills such as patience, focus, and resilience. Donations will directly impact our students by equipping them with tools that nurture creativity, strengthen cognitive development, and inspire a lifelong love of problem-solving and engineering.
