My Students
My special education students are amazing and creative kids. They are always coming up with new and unique ways to solve problems. Learning and social situations are often difficult for them yet, they persevere and continue grow.
These students often struggle with math, reading, writing and social skills.
Covid 19 greatly impacted them and increased their struggles. Despite these struggles they are not afraid to learn and try new things. They work harder and reach farther than their general education peers. And, have had to work even harder during the Covid pandemic. Everyday they face new challenges to overcome. And every day they push forward and try their best. They find joy in the little things. Even though learning is difficult they still love to learn and try new things. Each day I am awed by the things they learn and unique way they see the world.
As I teach them and help them through each day they constantly inspire me to learn more and become better. I want to learn and grow into the people they were meant to be. Their excitement for learning and life inspires me as a teacher.
My Project
Our Special Education classroom is a rich environment of learning for k-6 students. Each of these students bring their enthusiasm for learning to the classroom. With this enthusiasm comes much noise. The Yaker Tracker will help my students learn to monitor their voices, which will help with their social skills.
The timer will be used to help my students see how much time they have left to finish their work.
This will help them both academically and emotionally.
Because we have such a wide range of readers on so many different reading levels the variety of books will greatly add to our Classroom library helping each of them grow academically.
