My students need recycle bins to recycle, a variety of robots built with recycled items, a Mac and instant cameras for student presentation recycling videos, and a cart to conserve our class technology.
Although our students come from low income neighborhoods, they continue to prove how high-achieving they truly are. The growth in their maturity is matched by their new sense of determination to further explore the world and make their own lasting impression. They are interested in the arts, and are always looking for ways to share their talents.
I want my students to push themselves, so creating this research library with the proper materials will help us reach our goals.
I want to challenge them because I already know how brilliant they are - I want them to realize it as well!
My Project
My students want to take on their acting and humanities school, while at the same time educating the rest of the school on conservation, recycling tactics, and awesome ways of using those recycled items to create interactive robots! Each of these stem kits demonstrates a way to use recycled materials in a new way - whether it's a tool to measure time or temperature, or a robotic car or flying machine, each depends on recycled materials. Students will use the recycling bins to collect the materials we need, and then create demonstration videos using Apple technology. We hope to start a recycling movement throughout the whole school!
Students want to take the instruction into their own hands.
By creating their own visual presentations (via the Mac and the laptop station we are creating for videos, and the cameras with film for poster board presentations), students can take the "stage" and create demonstrations for the school community and pass on their new "green" lessons, and fun interactive ways that students can use recycled materials at home. The various recycle robot kits will be the design props to accompany their presentations. This hands on learning will definitely excite the students!
