My Students

I am a teacher in a special education classroom in a Title I school. The students at our school come from mostly low-income households that do not have much to spare for the classroom environment.

My students are all special individuals that deserve every opportunity as any other student in the school.

Each student has many needs that differ from student to student. I want to provide as much for them as I can, but I am limited in what I am able to do for the class.

My Project

We need many new items to re-vamp our in-classroom job laboratory in order to learn the skills we will need to obtain a job. Items like the Color Collating job and the different office supplies, like pencil cases and post-its, will help students get a job in an office setting. Items like the faucet, sprinkler, and flashlight assembly will help students get a job in a construction-like environment where they will be using tools and building different items. The items like food wrappers, measuring cups, and food scale will help students learn the skills they need to obtain a job in the food service environment.

All students have the ability to get a job if they have the right supplies!

We work daily on increasing these skills with our students, so we can hopefully find them a job after high school.
