My Students

I teach fourth grade at a Title I school located in Central Florida. 98% of students at my school are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. I teach 44 fourth-grade students. Our students come from a variety of social, behavioral, and emotional backgrounds.

My students come to school every day eager to learn and they are sponges that soak up everything around them.

Many of our students come to school with large learning gaps. They also come to school to be loved and cared for. However, they are all eager to learn and make learning gains. My hope is that every student that comes through knows that they are loved and that their thoughts are valued.

My Project

We are asking for Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards to help us purchase resources to use without a new reading curriculum. These resources have been created by teachers who have been using this curriculum for many years. By purchasing these resources we will be able to make lessons focused and on topic.

These resources will give us the opportunity to spend more time focusing on the students and their needs.

Teachers spend many hours creating handouts and powerpoints when a new curriculum is adopted. Purchasing these resources will give us a starting point. We will be able to spend more of our time tailoring the lessons to meet the needs of the students in our classrooms. These resources will also be used for our entire grade level, not just one class.
