My Students

I am a teacher in a small rural school with 18 magnificent first graders! One of the things I love most about my students are that they are eager to learn. My kids are pushed to think outside of the box and they have extraordinary imaginations. My classroom is filled with lots of energetic and active kids that never seize to amaze me. Working in a low income school really pushes me to be the best teacher I can be for these kids and to make sure they have a pleasant and inviting classroom to come into everyday.

My Project

In first grade writing is a crucial part of our day. Developing letters, writing skills, and fine motor skills are all developed in these early years. A key component in writing is a good pencil. I have good pencils already but not a good sharpener to keep our pencils on point. Pencil sharpeners are used more than anything in my classroom. Every child in my classroom sharpens their pencil twice a day to ensure that their penmanship is up to par. With the purchase of this heavy duty pencil sharpener my students would be able to keep their pencils sharp and their minds even sharper!
