My students need 5 soccer balls, 100 ping pong balls, 12 paddles, 5 basketballs, 2 basketball hoops, 5 volleyballs, a volleyball net, and cones in order to stay active at lunch.

My Students
We believe that every student, no matter what, should have the chance at college success! At Impact Academy of Arts and Technology, our students are buoyed up by a community of educators with the passion to ensure success. We are located in the middle of a diverse, working class neighborhood in Hayward.
This year, we will be opening a brand new middle school!
Over 120 seventh graders are signed up and ready to join our growing community of innovators, creative thinkers, athletes, and change makers!
My Project
Today I spent my morning with the students and parents of our founding 7th grade class building enough tables and chairs to accommodate our 5 new classrooms. While we worked, my new students started asking me what "fun" stuff we'd have at the school. "What?" I responded, "these cool new desks and chairs aren't fun enough for you?" The answer was no. So, they started brainstorming all the equipment they'd love to have at lunch each day, along with the reasons why: "Ping pong will stimulate our brain and makes us think fast on our feet." "Kick balls will get our heart rate up when someone kicks a home run." "Do we have a basketball hoop? I'll need to dunk." Their list went on and on and makes up the content of this DonorsChoose grant! Thank you for your support!
