This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with eighteen, wonderful and inquisitive pre-kindergarten students in a very diverse school in Brooklyn, New York. We have children from many different cultures in our class and children with many special abilities.
Our pre-k students love to learn new things daily!
For many of these children, it is their first year in school. They are learning about themselves, others, school rules, routines and many new concepts in various subjects! They have many opportunities to explore what kind of learners they are and learn concepts in many different ways!
My Project
My class absolutely loves learning through play! We have a table toy and game center where they can play educational games, build and learn with various materials which they love to visit everyday.
Unfortunately, my class had a waste pipe burst above our classroom and it burst, flooding and destroying many of our learning materials!
It was a sad event that disappointed the students but luckily, it occurred at the end of the school year. Going back this year, we are very short on materials and could really use some help replacing them.
My students need wooden puzzles and building materials such as bristle blocks, magna-tiles, and Duplo blocks to increase their critical thinking and fine motor skills. They also need educational games that will help them learn important early childhood concepts such as letters, numbers, counting, facts and how to work well with others.
