My Students
My students are eager learners, in 11th and 12th grade, who learn by doing and seeing. Bio Zone allows them to write directly into the text so they can annotate,and answer questions. The information and photos are presented in an exciting way, and students want to use the book when they see
We are a school that prepares our students for college early.
Juniors and Seniors have a full load,attending college courses at CUNY Queens, while fulfilling their high school requirements at the same time. . These are a sweet and responsible bunch of hardworking kids! Many have parents who are new to this country and actually support and work hand in hand with teachers!!
The AP class is mixed ability do not discourage anyone interested in taking the class, despite their previous grades, as long as they understand the commitment involved in completing the very extensive curriculum and lab work.
My Project
Students would be using these texts everyday as part of a self driven differentiated inquiry based classroom. There are web links that allow the more advanced student to explore and expand the areas that are of interest to them, while providing great visuals for those that struggle a bit. Its hard to use just our textbook as it can be intimidating to most. The text is rich with scientific terminology that students may or may not know. Biozone workbooks break concepts down,give lush amounts of examples all accompanied by lots of real life photographs.
With these set of workbooks, we would be able to ensure that every student in the class had a great opportunity and equal chance to perform well on the AP exam which is notoriously challenging.
They would have a comfortable text that they can use in hallways, lunch tables as its is lightweight and easy to read.
