This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Thank you for considering this proposal! I am the teacher of 20 wonderful 1st Grade students at San Pedro St. Elementary School. The school is located in downtown Los Angeles, near the Garment District. It is a 4-Track K through 5 school. Our enrollment consists of 720 students, where 93.5% are English Language Learners and 100% are Socio-economically disadvantaged.
The students in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) are facing increasing health and safety issues that can affect their wellness, ability to learn, and ability to be productive members of society. A good fitness program is essential to prepare students to live a life-long healthy lifestyle.
The F.I.T.T. principle is a basic philosophy of what is necessary to gain a training effect from an exercise program. F.I.T.T. stands for Frequency, Intensity, Type and Time. Due to the lack of parks and other recreational areas around San Pedro St. Elementary School, my students' only hope is to meet their F.I.T.T goals while at school. With your help, I plan to improve my students' Physical Education time by implementing the standards-based Skillastic game featuring various activities that will improve their flexibility, cardio endurance, muscle strength and muscle endurance. I will also implement a variety of non-competitive fitness activities in which students will make exercise seem like a game.
The purchase of this collection would include the Fitness Skillastics Game, 6 universal balls in 6 different colors and obstacle cones. My goal is to make P.E. time as effective and efficient as possible and I know that with your help we will be able to accomplish it.
