Help Us Get Back to the Basics!!

Help me give my students some of the basic supplies need on a daily basis. With harsh educational cutbacks, it gets harder and harder to get the basics, pencils, paper, scissors and even proper classroom furniture.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Timsit's classroom raised $525

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am blessed to teach an incredible group of kids each year! These kids continually amaze me, year to year ,despite the learning challenges they face daily. They are smart, caring, and hardworking! When I tell you they are incredible, that is an understatement! The majority of my sweet students struggle to learn, but refuse to give up! Our school is located in a low income area, where all of the students qualify for free meals. My students often spend anywhere from 9-12 hours a day at school, so it is important to me that my classroom looks and feels like home. My classroom is a family, and my students are bonded. They know that in our class, they will learn even though it may look less traditional than most would imagine. I consider my students family, and we work diligently together to maintain this feeling in my classroom.

My Project

Even after 26 years in the classroom, I still struggle to fill my classroom with the basics we need for success. Supplies are hard to come by, and we are in constant need of basics. Glue, scissors, paper are everyday necessities. Since the majority of my classroom have learning disabilities, they really need items that can be held, moved, and manipulated, especially in mathematics. When children learn differently, it is my responsibility to find a way to meet their learning needs. Any additions I can bring into the classroom, not only motivate my students, but it also gets them excited about leaning and helps them to keep trying their best.
