My students need an ELMO document camera for interactive writing, shared reading, group math, and many more activities!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. King's classroom raised $959
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help us to be able to read, write, and study together as a class! With an ELMO, all of the students will be able to see one image together through the projector that we already have in our classroom. This would enhance our use of our projector by showing an image under the ELMO screen.
Our school is one that thrives on collaboration and inclusion of all children, no matter what their background or needs.
Our classroom is a CTT (Cooperative Team Teaching) inclusive classroom that has fourteen students. 4 of our 14 students are on the autistic spectrum, and 10 are general education. Many of our children speak English as their second language, since the community surrounding our school is primarily from the Dominican Republic. However, even with all of our children's differences we teach them to appreciate each other for all of the unique things that they all bring to the classroom.
My Project
An ELMO doc would enrich our learning SO much in just about every subject area!! In reading, we would be able to use the ELMO for shared reading - where the children all read one thing at the same time. This helps increase their fluency (how quickly and smoothly they can read), expand their vocabulary, and encourage discussions with each other that come out of reading one common thing. The ELMO would also help us with Shared Writing - where the teacher writes on the piece of paper that is displayed, while the children dictate what is to be written. It would be extremely helpful with our current unit - persuasive writing - since we are writing letters as a class to various politicians about school policies. In math, we could work on worksheets, patterns, and various activities as a group. We also would be able to use this tool in Science, in our current unit of rocks, soil & silt - to further investigate rocks close-up. Our next unit about plants would also benefit from the ELM
The possibilities with this fantastic tool would be endless in our classroom, helping our children in literacy, science, and even in sharing things like photographs with the rest of the class in order to build their sense of community and appreciation of each other.
Please help us acquire this ELMO to make all of these exciting new shared activities a reality in our classroom!!
