My dance classes are my favorite classes to teach because my students are motivated and they really seek to push themselves to the limit. They are a talented bunch of creative young people who inspire me every day.
They have an incredible ability to soak up choreography like a sponge and their group dynamic is very caring and compassionate.
My students are eager learners who are diverse culturally and socioeconomically.
Our school is a college preparatory high school in Southern California with a rigorous curriculum that is highly demanding. Students are expected to rise to the occasion academically despite social and financial obstacles that they may face. Our school is designated as a low socioeconomic status, and we are deemed a Title I school.
My Project
My students love Hip Hop! Year after year, I receive requests to grow the opportunities for students to dance the hip hop genre. We even have an annual Hip Hop Night dance performance!
It is now time to start a Hip Hop Dance Team where my students can actually train in the style of hip hop.
Angel is a phenomenal dance professional who can provide valuable instruction to my dancers. He will work with students each week for the entire school year to not only train them in hip hop technique (various styles within the genre), but he will give them choreography too. Students will be able to perform at school events, community performance opportunities, as well as potential dance competitions.
