My students need iPads to engage in independent work to improve their alphabet knowledge, number awareness, listening skills, motor skills, and to assist their teacher in helping them reach their Individual Educational Plan (IEP) goals.

My Students

My wonderful Special Needs Pre-K class is located in one of our districts local public schools in a high poverty/low-income area. 100% of my students receive free/reduced lunch. My class size, age of my students and the disabilities my students have varies every year. My class currently is a mixed class of 11 students, ages 3 to 5 years old. Some are still in diapers as others are beginning to read. With this age and learning gap, it’s so important to have differentiated instruction and teach based on my students needs. With the use of iPads I will be better able to teach small group and one-on-one lessons. iPads will also allow me to discretely collect important student data and progress.

iPads aren’t only a great teaching tool, but a wonderful incentive.

With the use of the iPads, students will think they are playing, but we all know they are actually learning important listening skills, language skills, motor skills, reading skills, and math skills. The iPads will help support my students in reaching the high expectation I have set for them.

My Project

Many of my students' parents are striving to give their children the very best education possible to help their children become successful in life. Many parents still struggle to provide their households with the updated technology and internet access to prepare their children for success in our now technology filled schools and working world. I want to provide my students with the access and understanding of technology.

Not only will the iPads assist me in teaching important academic skills, they will also teach my students important life and social skills.

They will learn how to share and be responsible with technology. The iPads can provide so many positive outcomes. They can be used to motivate my students by challenging them to do their best and make good choices. The iPads can be used within my lessons to engage student learning, or my students can use them independently so I can fully focus during my small group instruction.
