At PS 30, we have a wonderful bunch of students who receive speech and language therapy for various reasons. All of our students have great potential and have made great strides in therapy, and we would love to help to continue having them grow in the best environment possible! Our students range from Pre-K to 5th grade at our community school. Some of their diagnoses include ADHD, Learning Disabled, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Hearing Impaired and Auditory and Language Processing Disorders.
My Project
We have 4 speech and language therapists sharing one classroom space. At times, there can be anywhere from 4 to 12 students and up to 8 adults in our room at once. We use bookshelves and other furniture to separate our spaces to try to make our learning environment as comfortable as possible. Our students, who have special needs, have a hard time focusing with all of the commotion. This room divider will serve to help separate our spaces a little better and will help to decrease distractibility and help them to focus a little bit better. Helping to fund our project will help our therapists be more productive during therapy sessions as we won’t have to redirect our students as much. Sessions are only 30 minutes and this will help maximize our instructional time.
