This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is composed of 22 young minds who possess such incredible eagerness and excitement for learning. My students come from low socio-economical backgrounds and have limited English language proficiency. Their background knowledge, thus, is often limited as they have not had meaningful learning experiences of the world around them. Thus, they are often curious and amazed by the simplest of things, such as using a magnifying glass to observe ladybugs in a clear container.
Their knowledge-hungry minds demand a classroom environment where curiosity, creativity, and self-expression are the ground rules, and where failure is expected as a step towards achieving goals.
These lovely 4-year-old children are simply not afraid of making mistakes, for we have become accustomed to celebrating "failures," as failures or mistakes indicate they have learned and are ready to move on towards success- whatever the task may be.
My Project
Our students continue to be eager to learn, happy to participate in our classroom activities in person and at home. However, we have run out of some basic school supplies that are needed for projects that allow them to review and practice skills in science, art, motor skills activities, center activities, at home projects, etc. Please help us finish the school year strong as we have 7 weeks left by contributing to our fund so we can replenish some of these basic and very needed items in our Pre-K Class.
