My Students
We're always busy in our library! We are a very small public school Library, serving about 380 students. We serve an 85% poverty group of students, grades Pre-K - 6. Many of our students are struggling readers. I believe every child can learn, and I try to provide any help I can.
We are a Title I school, very high poverty school.
Much of our Title One funding was cut last year, and that will happen again this next school year.
Many of our students have very unstable family lives and never go to a public library, for all kinds of reasons. Our ELL population many times may not know what a book is. Many of our students come from war-torn countries and I've had amputees (and more) in our school. These kids are survivors though! We do what we can to support our students to help them feel safe and cared for.
My Project
I need upright self markers that will sit on the book shelves, labeled with the alphabet, for our Fiction section. This will clearly divide each book section by author. This will enable our kids to easily find and identify each section. Our current little labels on the shelves are really hard to read. These new ones are tall, red, 1" wide, and will have ready made BIG labels inserted for easy viewing! They are nice looking, durable and will last for years! I'm also asking for student shelf markers, to mark their spot while looking at a book. I have added some label protectors for books repairs, also a part of my job. They are expensive and our school supply funds have been cut. I need to make our books last!
Please help my students easily find their Library books with our book case letter dividers!
These little supports help our students search, then check out their books. They also support their letter skills! The student shelf markers help them put the books they don't want back in the right spot, for the next student. Book label protectors will make our books last longer, they're great for repairs! Please help us keep our little library going, and any donations are appreciated!
