Can you imagine walking into a library and having to sort through a pile of books to find just the book for you? It is very hard for young children to find the right book in an unorganized stack. My students need a bookshelf so we can sort our books by genre, levels, and themes.
My students are eager to learn, hardworking, and full of excitement.
They come in each morning with positive attitudes and ready to learn. Within my classroom we have a diverse group of students that come from all walks of life. Our school is tucked in small town in Alabama. These children have finally reached 3rd grade and developed a passion for reading. Through the kindness of donors my students will have a wide selection of books and a wonderful, organized place to store them.
My Project
For emerging readers a large, messy, pile of books can be intimidating and turn readers away. However, in my classroom, I want my readers to feel comfortable and confident in finding a book independently. By having somewhere to store books students will be able to select reading material fast and efficiently. This will all help students remained engaged in reading and not become overwhelmed.
A classroom library has a wide range of books. This area is most effect if the books are sorted by genre, author, level, and themes. In order to organize successfully we need a place to store our books! Having a bookshelf also gives students responsibility. Students will be held accountable for keeping books neat and in their correct spot on the shelf. By donating to our classroom we will be able to organize our books and start the school year on the right foot.
Reading is such an important part of learning.
In order to make reading a success students need to be able to find a book. By having a bookshelf students will be able to walk over and browse through the selection to find a book they want to read. An organized reading environment will encourage reading and simplify the process for young readers.
