My students are amazing kids who face many challenges both at home and at school. My students all have various disabilities, but they don't let their disabilities hold them back.
All of my students are unique, but one thing is the same in each of them: they love to learn!
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and face many challenges before even entering our school. We work together every day to overcome those challenges and reach new heights. I work with about 75 special education students every week, reaching kids with various disabilities. My students love to move, explore, and play.
My Project
Kids who have access to books, on topics that they love, turn into kids who read and learn and lead our communities. Books can be scarce in our community. My students come from families that, due to a variety of circumstances, struggle to provide food, housing and clothing for their kids. This means that whatever money they come by often goes to basic needs and that there isn't often money left over for things like books.
When my students have books on topics they love, they quickly fall in love with reading.
With your help, my students have a library they can go to, full of amazing books about things they are interested in. They are able to pick books that they get to take home. My students love, love, love, to go to our "book store", and pick out a book of their very own. These books help my students fall in love with learning, which in turn, brings books into our community. My students love to tell me how they read their new book to their little brother or sister, or how their mom read it aloud to them before bed the night before. Books give children the opportunity to travel and experience new things, without leaving home. Every student deserves to experience the magic of a book. Help my students experience this magic for themselves!
