My students need art supplies like tempera paint, brushes, paper, feathers, pom poms, googly eyes, and craft sticks to express themselves creatively.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine having to paint on 8 1/2 x 11" computer paper with only a tablespoon of paint in three available colors because your teacher has to ration it...how creative can you possibly be? Now, imagine having large size paper that can handle a young child's brush strokes and multiple layers of paint...
My urban kindergartners love art...painting, drawing, creating sculptures from recycled materials or objects found in nature.
They can turn tissue paper, a toilet paper roll, and some masking tape into an amazing spaceship. A tissue box, construction paper, and Popsicle stick are transformed into a lively puppet. Anything can be made into art through the eyes of a child, but they need basic art supplies to support this!
My Project
Basic art supplies should be a staple in every kindergarten classroom, but sadly there just aren't funds for it. I spend a lot of my own money to buy art supplies, but they get used up so quickly that it is difficult to encourage these children's creativity through free art expression throughout the school year. With these art materials, students will be able to do a variety of structured and unstructured art projects throughout the year. Several of the requested items are also multicultural which will help students develop a strong sense of identity and and ability to represent themselves in their art.
Please help us bring art into the classroom.
This much needed creative outlet is fading so fast from schools across the country. Children love to create and share their art work. You can help us make art a daily experience in our classroom.
