Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a Kindergarten teacher in a very low income neighborhood in the Bronx. Because of the academic rigor of the Kindergarten curriculum in New York City, my students never have a chance to use their imaginations to create. The school does not provide any materials for the children, and the teachers spend most of their money on essentials such as pencils, paper, crayons, and books, leading to a lack of art supplies.
Art projects are a wonderful way for children to develop abstract thought, and practice skills such as fine motor, spatial reasoning, and hand-eye coordination. In addition, it's so much fun! Most of my children do not even have crayons at home, so school is really the place for them to explore their creative sides.
I am asking for a Classroom Art Project Kit from Lakeshore Learning.
