My Students

California is facing unprecedented budget cuts, especially in education. My AP students hope to pass the AP test in May, earning college credit while still in high school. This will help them in college, where many students are having trouble enrolling in classes and finishing in four years.

Our school is in a poor neighborhood.

Many of my students have parents who did not complete high school or even middle school. Our students face many challenges, including gangs, violence, and poverty. I am amazed by my students' perseverance and resilience. I want to prepare as many of them for college as I can and see them be successful. My AP students are dedicated, hard-working, enthusiastic, and motivated students. These students are college-bound and really want to do well on the Exam. They know that college is expensive and want to minimize their costs in any way, which is one reason they are working so hard in class. Many of them have older siblings who tell them that the community colleges have more students than they can teach, and many students struggle to enroll in even one class. The more college credit they can earn in high school, the easier it will be for them once they get there.

My Project

That is why I am requesting these AP study guides. These study guides will help the students develop the crucial study skills they need to pass the exam. They will also be able to take these skills with them to college. The books also have valuable practice tests which will help them earn a passing score on the exam. If the students were able to purchase these books themselves, I would ask them to but I know that their parents sometimes struggle to put food on the table, and it wouldn't be right for some students to have the book and the others to go without. That is why we need your help.

Thank you in advance for your help with this project.

The gift of these books will have a huge impact on my students' ability to do well on the test. A little confidence goes a long way, and a passing score on the test could really motivate my students to go on and get a higher education. Thank you for helping them get there.
