My Students

Albert Einstein said, "The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing." Young children are full of wonder and this sense of wonder must be nurtured and encouraged in order to create problem solvers and thinkers who will one day lead our world.

My urban kindergartners are full of curiosity.

They have questions about anything and everything. Unfortunately, they're daily lives are about survival and trying to get their basic needs met. This does not foster a sense of wonderment in a young child. Our public school does have a science curriculum, but it lacks hands-on experiences that help children make sense of the world around them. My students will hopefully make a change in their community one day. Higher order thinking skills are so important for all children to learn, but for these children, it is an absolute necessity if they are ever going to be leaders and movers.

My Project

These hands-on science materials will help these kindergartners explore the world around them. They will be exposed to different tools and experiences they wouldn't otherwise encounter. They will watch plants grow and observe animal behaviors. They will be able to categorize livings things by their similarities and differences. Questions and discussions will be inspired by these materials. They will discover how things work: both living and nonliving. Most importantly, their sense of wonder will be fostered and expanded upon.

Please help these kindergartners continue to be scientist every day.

Your donations will help these children continue to ask questions and seek answers. By supporting this curiosity, you will help build students problem solving and higher order thinking skills. This will help our world as these children one day grow up to lead it.
