This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a unique school. As a Title I school, our students come from a variety of different social and economic backgrounds with over 90% of our students receiving free lunch. Our school is the only school in the Los Angeles School District where students are placed in the most restrictive environment on a general education elementary school site.
In 2006, our school welcomed general education students into our specialized school creating a dynamic school community consisting of 50% special education students and 50% general education students.
Our school community prides itself in its efforts to integrate and create an inclusive environment for all our special education and general education students. Our special education students have a wide range of academic abilities and needs that require them to be placed in a more restrictive environment where they can receive all the support they need in one place.
My Project
With these new iPads and stylus, my students will be able to work on a variety of activities that will allow them to develop their prewriting skills. Activities and games on iPad that involve letter formation are both contributors to fine motor skill development. With the development of these skills, my students will be able to complete important tasks such as writing and important life skills such as feeding themselves.
Students will be able to learn how to manipulate a variety of writing utensils and learn how to use them properly.
This will allow my students to be successful in their academics as well as become lifetime learners.
