My Students

I teach a great group of kindergarten students at a rural school near the coast of South Carolina. Our school houses Pre-K through fifth grade with a student population of about 800 students. Although our elementary school is one of the biggest in our district, we have a family feeling to it that visitors notice when they walk through the front doors. We have a total of six kindergarten classes. With a school this big, our population is extremely diverse. We have very low economic families in our community, but these children are always eager to learn and ready to overcome obstacles. I want to help my students who are just beginning their school careers go even further and really push themselves. Your donations will make that dream possible for my classroom.

My Project

In our classroom, we learn through playing. I am requesting a variety of blocks to give my students exposure to building using different materials. Students will have the opportunity to build with foam blocks and larger cardboard blocks.

By giving my students exposure to different materials and mediums they will realize that they can solve the same problem in many ways.

Students will realize that you can build a structure for different purposes using different materials. Blocks are wonderful and give students the chance to build, be creative and create a world all their own.

I am also requesting manipulatives that will help my students use STEM skills to build. These ZOOB sets, gears sets and building flakes will challenge my students to be creative engineers while working together with other students.
