My Students

A typical day in my 12/1/1 self-contained classroom can be demanding and stimulating. My days are spent constantly redirecting my student€™s' behaviors, teaching to meet the academic needs of each individual student, and giving out rewards. The supplies will enhance their critical thinking skills.

My students are incredibly wonderful.

They each have different needs ranging from academic to behavior and social emotional needs. To add to that situation, our school has a very high poverty rate. The majority of our students are homeless and live in shelters. Our school has over 900 students from various diverse backgrounds. With that being said, my scholars are hard at work in Applied Learning skills so they can be college and career ready, but they just need basic working supplies like pencils, erasers and colored pencils to facilitate their learning outcomes.

My Project

The biggest challenge in helping to change the lives of my students is the lack of money or resources to buy well needed classroom materials especially new, strong pencils and erasers. They will use the supplies to write their first, second and final work on. Which demonstrates the writing process. Their can erase and correct mistakes made during work time. The colored pencils will be used highlight important details in a variety of different stories. These color pencils will also be used for students to illustrate their written work, draw and color settings for a story, and create picture perfect cover pages. My students also need an X-ACTO Heavy-Duty Electric Pencil Sharpener.

My students come in excited and ready for middle school challenges that come with it, but they just need basic working supplies like writing paper, pencils, erasers, an electric pencil sharpener, and colored pencils to facilitate their learning outcomes.

With these supplies my students can take work home to complete and return the next day.
