My Students

We are a Title I school and over half of our students come from low-income homes which means they often don't have the opportunities and resources available to higher income families. Most of my students rely on the school library for their reading materials and exposure to books.

They are excited readers & love listening to books!

My students look forward to my weekly lessons, checking out books, and having the opportunity to collaborate and discuss in a group setting that is relaxed and enjoyable. This is especially true this year (2021) since last year my students were unable to collaborate in small groups due to COVID restrictions and social distancing!

My Project

These seating choices will help students in a variety of contexts. In particular they will help students relearn vital social skills they have lost over the last 2 years. It is apparent that our students need more opportunities for interaction with one another. Our students need an area that will help them explore and learn while allowing them to be comfortable and helping them to engage in collaborative conversations with one another and also enabling for large group discussions that are essential to learning! (NVACS SL1.1,SL2.1,SL3.1,SL4.1,SL5.1) This seating will help provide that learning area and help with collaboration and discussion!
