My Students
My students have caught a fever... a reading fever! In order to help them recover, we need lots of reading supplies and stories to feed their reading fever. Please help to feed the starving minds of our middle school students so they can develop their love for reading and become lifelong readers!
My students are in grades 6 through 8 and attend a small Title 1 school in Upstate New York.
These middle school students have struggled with reading in all of their classes, and I am excited that I get to offer them a place where they can read about topics that fascinate them. My students desperately need a literacy-rich environment and they are excited about learning and about reading.
My Project
The literacy materials I have requested will motivate my struggling students to be excited about our world. For example, I choose a book that contains plays about Greek Myths. My students are very dramatic and learn best by interacting with each other. A great way for them to learn and be excited about mythology is to act out the myths themselves!
I also selected some graphic novels that will motivate my students to pick up a book and enjoy the process of reading. The other texts and materials that I chose will enhance their understanding of the world around them and what makes this such an exciting place to live.
My students need inspiration in the area of literacy.
These donations will encourage my students to pick up a book and learn about our world. They will take these literacy skills with them throughout their schooling years and continue to grow as lifelong readers and learners.
