Can you find the percent of increase between thousands of dollars in your head? Neither can my students. This is why we are asking for your help in supplying us with calculators that can assist in our advanced 7th grade mathematics concepts.
Many of the students in my urban public school classes are below the district standards in mathematics.
These calculators would help my students by showing them how to convert percentages, solve proportions and even calculate geometric formulas, all of which are needed for our 7th grade curriculum. My students would improve with the extra help these calculators can provide.
My Project
These calculators have programs that allow students to add, subtract, multiply, divide and even convert fractions, decimals and percents. There are functions that allow the students to use Pi and square root in their formulas. The 2-row screen allows the students to see the equation they are inputting and the answer that it computes at the same time. Students can even scroll back to previous equations to see trends and configuration of multiple problems.
My students have not been making adequate progress consistently because they are disadvantaged.
They need these calculators to succeed. As a teacher, I know how important it is for students to have supports. This is a support you can give them. Be a part of their success.
