Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year our ceramics students would like to participate in a school art show and submit large works of art. In order to do so, we are in need of additional clay to help them create bigger works of art.
My students are in Advanced Ceramics, and are very eager to work on bigger works of art this year.
Our school is located in a low income community that has had a bad reputation in the past. We have been working over the past few years to create a positive sense of community, and to instill pride into our students. Through the arts, they are able to express themselves in a positive way.
My Project
Students will be using the clay to create bigger projects for this year's art show. Due to limited resources in the past, they have only been able to work in very small scale projects. They will use this clay to learn advanced techniques, as well as how to throw on the wheel. The money will go into purchasing clay, needle tools, and wax resist.
This project will help students become more comfortable with working with clay, and will help them develop their sculpting skills.
It will allow students to expand their creativity, and allow them to have beautiful pieces that they can be proud of, for their art show. It will also show students how to work with clay properly, and they will learn a series of techniques that will make them better artists.
