Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
What I love about my students is how imaginative and creative they are. Even though some of my students are nonverbal they find ways to communicate. Whether it be through ASL, PECs visual cards, or assistive technology they thrive on exploring other sensory outlets. Being able to provide them sensory toys or an area where they can self-regulate themselves is key to support their needs. When they feel safe and a sense of dignity they can then enjoy learning. By offering a calming center they can look forward to completing tasks first so that they can enjoy a break.
