This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a diverse group of curious, hard-working thinkers, and budding artists. We are a project-based school that values the contributions of the arts and strives to teach children how to create beautiful work. They love to draw, paint, build, and dream during their time in the art room!

As a teacher, my goal is to help them develop the skill set to be a 21st-century thinker and creator.

The line between art, technology, and science is continually becoming more and more blurry and I strive to provide opportunities for students to explore their own interests where those disciplines intersect.

My Project

Clay is a favorite medium in our classroom. To date, we have been using air-dry clay and making small pieces that aren’t as durable as clay that was fired in a kiln.

This is all changing because our campus now has a kiln!

The middle school art teacher worked hard to get a grant to buy a kiln, and we will be able to use it!

Help us afford the materials we need to begin making clay projects. It’s an expensive medium and requires clay, colorful underglazes, and clear glaze to make pieces complete. Please consider donating to help make our clay dreams come true!
