My Students
My students are ready to learn in the 21st Century. Technology is constantly changing, and providing access to current technology can be a challenge. Upgrading our outdated desktop computers to Chromebooks can help to bridge the technology gap.
Our school is located in a diverse urban environment.
The diversity (both ethnically and socio-economically) of the students reflects the diversity of the city. Many of the students have access to technology outside of school, while many others do not. Those students rely on the school to provide 21st Century leaning skills, which are a necessary part of educational success.
My Project
The school library is a learning center. Aside from print materials, students rely on online access for conducting research; not to mention accessing the library's online catalog. Students need computers to learn internet safety skills, smart searching practices, proper citation skills, and independent research. The district provides databases and other resources that can only be accessed with computers.
The library currently has four outdated desktop computers.
The move to Chromebooks will save space, allowing for more computers, which in turn will provide access to more students. New Chromebooks will assist my students in becoming 21st Century learners, while helping to close the technology gap.
