My Project
My name is Mr. Robert Nevico, and I have the joy of teaching Discovery-Film at a middle school in Tucson, Arizona. Our school is part of the Sunnyside Unified School District and proudly serves a Title I community full of bright, creative students with big dreams and even bigger stories to tell.
In my film class, students explore the art of storytelling through the lens of a camera.
They learn how to plan, shoot, and edit their own short films — building confidence, teamwork, and technical skills along the way. It’s an incredible experience for them… but also a tough one when the tools we need just aren’t there.
Right now, I only have two working cameras, and I teach three classes with over 90 students. That means valuable learning time is spent waiting and sharing, and our storytelling potential is limited. With enrollment projected to grow to 120 students next year, I simply can't meet the demand on my own, which is why we need 5 new cameras. We are also without a proper computer for editing, which is why I'm also asking for help to get a Mac Mini to serve as our central editing hub (I’ll provide the monitor, software, and peripherals).
